Don’t sit at home, come celebrate Independence Day with us! The fun starts early and downtown Fort Smith will be alive with activities for the whole family!

Wednesday, July 4th

12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
The Arkansas Valley Mustang Club will be hosting an open Car Show on the 4th. Awards will be given at 5 p.m. Check out the beautiful Mustangs…or bring your own!
Fort Smith Museum of History, 320 Rogers Ave.
Hours: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The Museum is commemorating the 4th of July in a unique family oriented way…with a Fourth of July Craft Making Event. From 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. children will make patriotic crafts. The event is free and open to children twelve years and younger accompanied by a parent. Refreshments are included!
Fort Smith National Historic Site, 301 Parker Ave.
Hours: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The National Historic Site will be open on Independence Day. Drop by and learn a little bit of history…and the park area is also a great place to throw a blanket down and watch the fireworks later in the evening.
West End Park, 15 N. 2nd St.
Open at 4 p.m. Ferris Wheel Rides are $1 each. Park admission is free.
Hours: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Come by Fort Smith’s Visitors Center for a visit! Miss Laura’s is directly across from Harry E. Kelley Park (where the Mayor’s celebration is held) and makes a perfect spot to stake out and view the sparks later!

Lawn chairs and blankets are recommended. Ice chests are permitted. This is an alcohol free event. No personal fireworks will be allowed in the park. Parking will be throughout Downtown with handicap parking at designated locations.
